Wasting Time on Ebay

Well I'm not going to lie, instead of blogging I've been spending all my online time on ebay. I've been bidding on juicers. I thought I was going to win one, but I always get outbid by people bidding way more than I can at the last minute! It is so frustrating, I want a juicer so bad but I really don't have enough money for one right now.

Anyways Saturday some of my relatives that I had just visited in Ohio were at my grandparents house, which is about an hour and a half from us. So we ate some lunch and then headed up to see them! I had some Amy's Soup
This is the first time I tried the Chunky Vegetable and it was delicious as expected, however the Chunky Tomato Bisque is still my favorite (and I think always will be!)
And some egg salad on a slice of soft oatmeal toast!
Once we got up to my grandparents house we decided to head to downtown Martinsburg to check out the local chocolate store, DeFluris. My grandparents buy us chocolate crosses from here every Easter and they are delicious, but we have never actually been in the store. They had lots and lots of delicious looking truffles

I got a Dark Chocolate Raspberry, Peach Brandy, Vermont Maple, Fisher Ridge Wine, a Cape Cod ("white chocolate, tart cranberries and a hint of orange create a wonderful refreshing truffle") to bring home with me! We then walked around downtown Martinsburg for a little, they were having a car show and the streets were blocked off and they had live music and vendors set up everywhere. We walked down to the train station so Braden could look at the old roundhouse because he loves trains! Eventually we made our way back to the cars so we could head back where my grandma had dinner waiting for us! I was planning on saving all my chocolate for later but once we were in the car everyone else decided to try one of their truffles so I pulled out one too. It was the dark chocolate raspberry one.

DELICIOUS! Nothing can compare to a good truffle! While we were in the store you can look through a window into the back where they make the chocolate and I was thinking how fun it would be to work somewhere like that. Can someone please find me a chocolate making job?

When we got back my grandma had a huge dinner for us. I didn't take a picture because we were crammed in, in the dining room and once I sat down I wasn't able to get back up to get the camera! But we had a pot roast cooked with carrots and potatoes (I love carrots cooked with pot roasts, yummm!), tons of fresh fruit and veggies, homemade applesauce (my grandma makes the best!), mac and cheese, and rolls. For dessert she made an angel food cake that is topped with a mixture of coolwhip, cream cheese, and pineapple (she also sometimes makes it with mandarin oranges instead.) Its the perfect light summery cake and was great to finish off that heavy meal with.

For fathers day we headed to Red Lobster after church for my mom's b-day/ fathers day/ my mom got $100 in Red Lobster gift cards from her students on the last day of school lunch. I couldn't decided what I wanted, I knew I wanted coconut shrimp but wasn't really feeling any of the other things they paired it with for the combo things. Then I realized I could order the appetizer version and get another appetizer for the same price as the combos and get the same or possibly more food out of the deal! So I ordered some crab and lobster stuffed mushrooms and my coconut shrimp that comes with the best pina colada type sauce ever!

I ate half of both the mushrooms and the shrimp and ate the other half for dinner! When we got home from lunch I had another truffle, the peach brandy one! Just as good as the others

And my dad got this like homemade twinkie type of thing that had been dipped in chocolate, so of course I tried a piece of that.

It was so nice outside yesterday I grabbed my dog and went for a run. I am so sick of this hot weather, if it would stay in the 70s all summer I would be much happier! I guess I need to move to Maine! I also got my dad to hang up my last shelf in my room and put up my headboard, so then I spent most of the rest of the day cleaning my room some more! It is getting there, I think maybe it will be clean by the time I start student teaching in the fall hahaha.

Today I woke up around 11:30 and skipped breakfast and went straight to lunch at around 12:30 ( I seem to be doing that a lot lately, I am clearly not a morning person like many other food bloggers out there!) I made a grilled cheese quesadilla, with garlic and herb cheddar, goat cheese, campari tomatoes, and spinach on a spinach wrap. It was delicious and the only thing that could have made it better was basil.
I am growing basil, but its not quite ready to eat yet. I planted my basil and parsley a couple weeks ago and its coming along nicely. I've never grown anything from seeds before so I'm pretty excited (I've planted the basil that you buy at the grocery store with the roots and everything and it actually works about 50% of the time haha)

My mom said she was grilling hamburgers for dinner, however she is currently sleeping on the couch so I'm not so sure about that. Either way I'm not having hamburgers so I guess I should go figure out what I'm going to eat for dinner, hope everyone has a great day!

I miss my computer

It has been a busy last couple of days. Unfortunately my stuff is still not all unpacked and my room is still a mess. I am trying to consolidate everything I had in my room in Richmond in with the stuff I already had in my room here. I think I've finally got all my furniture situated but it still a long way from where I need it to be. I was suppose to go to Richmond today for Courtney's b-day but I can't even begin to find the things that I would need to pack to get down there, not to mention that my vera is filled with stuff. I also have my VRA's on Saturday and I really need to buckle down and look over that stuff so I don't fail them.

Anyways starting with Sunday night, I think that is where I left off on my last post. We had taco salad. Spinach, tomatoes, green onions, cucumbers, and of course the obligatory taco meat and tortilla chips. For breakfast Monday I made a Kashi Go Lean Strawberry Flax waffle topped with some 0% Fage and lemon curd. Can you tell I went to the grocery store on Sunday hahaha. It was really good but missing fruit. I was going to cut up some strawberries but apparently somebody ate all of them.

Then in between breakfast and lunch I made Ani's raw donut holes. I have been dying to make these because I keep seeing them around the food blog world, but I didn't have a food processor at my house in Richmond. It was on the top of my list of things to make when I moved back home so here they are!
They were delicious. My only problem was I couldn't find any just plain old dried pineapple with no sulfur or preservatives or extra sugar on my quick grocery run to Giant. The pineapple I found was loaded with all that junk and therefore made it not very squishable. I'm going to have to try to make these again after getting some good dried pineapple at Wegmans or Whole Foods, because these kind of have chunks of pineapple in with all the other ingredients that got squished together, but it was still delicious!

Then I took my dog out for a run because it was gorgeous outside and our treadmill is broken. It was actually my first outside run and I enjoyed it and I would make it a normal thing except I know that the weather Monday was the exception to the rule in May and it will only get hotter. Even today it is much warmer and I think I might wait until this evening and try to go out and run. I can see myself running outside in the Fall/Winter but I am defiantly a cold weather person and hate the heat, so I think I need to locate a new treadmill for these summer months.

When I came back I stretched out my dogs legs lol. Does anyone else run with their dog? This was the first time I had ever taken my dog for a run and I figured she needed to stretch her legs just like I do. Then in the mail came a free sample or Rachael Ray's dog food- Nutrish.
So I gave some to Charlotte for lunch and she was pretty excited about it!
See that huge tongue! hahaha For my lunch I tried these Morning Star tomato and basil pizza burgers.
I put them on a sandwich with some smoked cheddar, tomatoes, spinach, and lots of Sabra
And of course for dessert I had on of the donut holes.
Then for dinner it was pizza night! I got 2 big pizza crusts for 'my pizza' and 'my mom's pizza' and then 2 little ones so my sister and brother could make their own. I knew my sister wouldn't eat more than the little one and my brother would rather have his own little one and then eat some pieces from the others. And my dad eats off both mine and my moms.

My sister made plain old cheese pizza, it had some sauce, some fresh mozzarella along with shredded mozzarella and cheddar and pepperonis on half.
My brother's pizza had normal pizza sauce, fresh and shredded mozzarella, cheddar, ham, peperoni, and basil.
Mine had pesto, fresh mozzarella, goat cheese, campari tomatoes, shitake mushrooms, green onions, and basil. yummmmmm my favorite kind of pizza!!!
And my mom's had normal pizza sauce, fresh and shredded mozzarella, cheddar, peperoni, ham, pineapple, green peppers, green onions, shitake mushrooms, campari tomatoes, garlic and I think that's it.

For breakfast yesterday morning I made another delicious Kashi Waffle and topped it with some pineapple and this So Delicious coconut milk passionate mango yogurt. It was delicious!
Then I went and chopped my hair off! I was getting so tired of long hair in the summer. My hair is really thick and it just takes too long to blow dry. I will take pictures later and post them tomorrow! I came home and ate a quick lunch of leftover pizza then ran back out to do some more errands. I hit up Home Goods, Target, Lowes, and Michaels in search of baskets and corner shelves for my room. I stopped at this place called Juiced that is attached to the World Gym in hopes that it was a juice bar. But it was a smoothie place, no juice, but it was pretty good. I'm not even sure what I ended up with but I think it had pineapple, banana, and some kind of veggie supplement thing in it. Since the Tropical Smoothie by Giant has been saying Coming Soon for over a year now this might be the only good smoothie place in the area so I'll probably be hitting it up some more!
Then I came home and worked on organizing my furniture in my room for forever. My dad made a delicious dinner of some leftover coconut shrimp, green beans, and some of his yummy tilapia concoction. He changed it a little last night but basically he usually uses some parmasean (or a parmasan, asiago, and romano mixture if we have it), a little light mayo, lemon juice, and a mixture of herbs like basil and oregano. Last night he added in some bread crumbs as suggested by my mom. It was good but I think we decided the breadcrumbs would work better if we dipped the fish in egg and breaded the entire thing and the mixture without breadcrumbs is better as just a topping.
This morning I tried another waffle combo. I put almond butter on half the waffle and topped the other half with pineapple and mix of lemon curd and plain fage. I wanted to try the almond butter with the yogurt but I didn't want to mix it all together in case I didn't like it. It was really good though, so I ended up mixing it all together anyways!
For the rest of the day I am working on organizing my room some more and studying for the VRA's! My computer is still away at Dell and I miss it! However I got my old laptop up and running (we will see how long it lasts) so hopefully I can update more regularly for the rest of the week, until the weekend because I'm going to my grandparents house in West Virginia where they do not have wireless internet!

Happy Mothers Day!

Well it has been a long past few days. I certainly am not going to recap everything (I didn't take pics of everything) but I'll recap the big things!

Thursday Night! Josh's b-day! Bethany, Rob, and I made a cake for Josh and then Megan and Jonathan came and we blew up tons of balloons and decorated Josh's room! Then we waited for him to come home from work! Later Josh and I decided we really wanted some calamari from 3 Monkeys so we called and their kitchen was still open for the next half an hour so we rushed over there. Had a couple drinks and some calamari and took pictures with the giant polar bear!

Friday! Mass Move Out Day! My parents got to my house around noon and after a quick lunch of quesadillas we drove down to Newport News to move my brother out of his dorm. We loaded up my brothers truck and then drove back to Richmond.
In Richmond we packed up all my stuff and loaded it into a moving truck that we rented. We got upgraded to this huge one for free because they were out of the small ones. My stuff filled up about half of it lol. After finally loading everything and cleaning my room out we grabbed Tropical Smoothie to eat in our own cars and drove back to Haymarket. When we got there we quickly unloaded everything into the garage so we could go return the moving truck to the night drop off.
Saturday: Most of Saturday was spent moving around furniture in my bedroom and unpacking things. I got my little uncomfortable bed out and my pillow topped big bed in! That combined with my desk were my 2 biggest pieces of furniture but I'm still trying to figure out what to do with my dresser and book shelves. I would rather move out the massive dresser that is in my room now and move in the small one I had in Richmond and my book shelves, so maybe that will happen today. Dinner last night was coconut shrimp, fruit salad, fresh broccoli, and this thing my mom found that was like a pretzel topped with crab and cheese stuff.
Then we went to the Verizon store to get my sister a new phone. I almost got one too bc my sister and brother are up for their new phones and me and my parents are up for new ones at the end of the month. My brother however doesn't want a new one so I almost got one but I really want a blackberry and you have to pay a $30 monthly blackberry data/internet thing and my dad didn't want to put that on my phone booooo.

Today! On the way to church this morning I had a Chocolate and Coconut Raw Revolution bar. It was delicious- but like the other one I had it really sticks to my teeth and I'm scared that I have chocolate all over my teeth.
Church was really good my pastor was talking about Enthusiasm and kept comparing it to Tigger vs Eyore! Hahha my sister and I were like we are more Tigger's and my brother is definitely an Eyore! Anyways Enthusiasm comes from the greek enthuse (or something like that) and it means to be infused with God- so I thought that was really cool!

We are celebrating Mother's Day next week with my grandparents because it was too hard with moving this week and everything. But we asked my mom what she wanted for lunch and she really wanted some Quiznos so off to Quiznos we went! I got a Black Angus sandwich filled with beef and mushrooms and onions. It was delicious but after I ordered I saw all the salads they had and wished I would have gotten one of those!
And to drink I got a Lipton Green Tea with Honey. The rest of the day will probably be spent like yesterday- unpacking and organizing.

Also the rest of this week might be sporadic posting because my computer is at Dell hopefully being fixed of its power issues! I shipped it out yesterday and they said it could be gone for 8-10 days so I'm having to use the family desktop and my old laptop that likes to turn itself off randomly!
